Beautiful harmony

From Romantic choral music to Pop, for young voices, dir. Benoît Giaux (BE)

Benoît Giaux conducts the Children and Youth Choirs of the Royal Opera House Brussels (The Munt) and teaches Singing at the Conservatory of Namur (B). He also active as baryton soloist in Belgium and abroad. He combines a carreer in classical music and in a capella pop-jazz with his group Witloof Bay.

A magical box of colours and sounds, dir. Basilio Astulez (ES)

Basilio Astulez teaches at the Municipal Conservatory of Leioa. He intensively works for the promotion of choral singing with children and youth, leading the choirs Kantika Korala, La Kantoria and SJB.

Music by and for women with a passion for singing, dir. Virginia Bono (ARG)

Virginia Bono is a choir conductor, music pedagogue and the musical director of Estudio Coral Meridies. She teaches at courses and masterclasses, and acts as a jury member internationally.

Tempo giusto

Sing your music and live your life in the right tempo,  dir. Carlo Pavese (IT) 

Carlo conducts the choirs CoroG in his home town Torino and teaches Conducting, interpretation and choral improvisation. He is active in FENIARCO and was artistic director of the Europa Cantat festival in Turin 2012. Currently vice president of the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat.

Jeroen Beckers is currently the director of all Cantitare choirs (Children’s Choir, Youth Choir and Mixed Youth Choir) in Maaseik (B) and Bocanto (mixed choir). He holds teaching positions at the Academy of Arts in Maaseik (B) as well as the Conservatory of Maastricht (NL) and is vice-president of the 'Flemish Federation for Young Choirs’ and member of the Music Commission of Koor&Stem. Daily Open Singing, dir. Marleen De Boo (BE), involving the atelier conductors and all participating choirs and singers. Fun, easy to join repertoire from all over the world.

Marleen De Boo is one of the most important pedagogues from Flanders in the field of singing with children at school and in choirs. She is always keen to learn new repertoire and new working methods and loves to share this passion and inspiration with young and old.

Course for young choral conductors

dir. Dieter Staelens (BE) and vocal coach Annick Desair (BE).

Are you dreaming of becoming a choral conductor? Here is your chance to have a go and feel what it is like to sculpture the sound of a choir. This course is meant for 'absolute beginners'. You will learn about the basics of choral conducting and vocal training and have a go yourself at conducting in practical sessions. You will also visit the ateliers of the International Singing Week Flanders and learn 'tips and tricks' from experienced conductors. Through well known choral songs you will explore the art of conducting. You will work intensely on different aspects of conducting a choir. You will work in small groups on the aspects that interest you most. There will be daily individual sessions vocal training. 

For: young people, 16-33y, who want to discover the basics of choral conducting; starting conductors, teachers, singers,...

Musical Program for Children

Singing (grand)parents can bring their (grand)children (7-12y) to this Singing Week. The children follow a 4-day mini-singing week alongside Flemish children.
The repertoire will be joyful, easy and international. Meals, accommodation and leisure time are spent with the (grand)parents.
 

Estudio Coral Meridies - "Laudate Dominum", de Josep Vila, dir. Virginia Bono

Virginia Bono is a choir conductor, music pedagogue and the musical director of Estudio Coral Meridies. She teaches at courses and masterclasses, and acts as a jury member internationally.

Location

Ateliers, meals and accommodation are all in one location: the Sint-Bavo boarding school, situated in the shadows of Ghent’s main Cathedral. Accommodation is in basic single rooms and some double rooms. Showers and toilets are in the corridors. Wi-Fi available in some of the rooms and in the communal areas. Sint-Bavohumaniora, Reep 4, 9000 Gent, Belgium.

Fee per person, depending on country of origin and membership type ECA-EC*. Full board accommodation in the Sint-Bavo school and meals, starting 8/7/19-dinner until 15/7/19-breakfast. Musical program, concerts, scores included.

NO ACCOMODATION / BREAKFAST

FAMILY REDUCTION
Children, 7-18y of participating (grand)parents: € 175, full board formula.

Choirs and families can use the group application form. Individual singers and participants for the Conductors course can use the individual application form. Advance payment required: € 150 per person before 1/3/2019, full amount before 1/6/2019.
